Quality is the result of the coherent combination of academic excellence with comprehensive relevance.
The governmental body with national scope, protected by the Ministry of Higher Education, is the National Accreditation Board (JAN), which has the mission of contributing to the improvement of the quality of Cuban higher education through the development and application of the System of Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education (SEAES).
The JAN is made up of a group of prestigious professionals from the different branches of knowledge that come from the different Higher Education Institutions (IES) of the country or other organizations.
Aspects that condition the quality of institutions and programs: human resources, infrastructure, curriculum, students, comprehensive relevance and the social impact of the processes.
1. 1198 evaluation and accreditation processes carried out.
2. 29 Institutions have a superior accreditation category, four stand out for having a category of excellence: University of Havana, Marta Abreu de las Villas Central University, José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana and the University of Oriente.
3.The following have been accredited: 273 IES * degrees, 249 master's degrees, 68 doctorates and 27 postgraduate specialties. * The same career can be taught in several universities and be accredited in some and not in others, that is why they are considered IES-career.
